Nereyda (Neri) Valentin-Macias is a freelance brand designer and website composer living in Uxbridge, Massachusetts, where she composes brands and websites for local non-profits and small businesses. She has been a Joomla! evangelista since 2007 and has participated in a number of community events and teams including; the first online PBF, GsoC 2008 mentor for the J!Research project, former communications team member, and is member of team EaSE for the online community magazine. When she is not composing, Neri enjoys kayaking the waterways in New England and creates fine art pieces.

In this session, we will explore the fundamentals of creating template overrides for the Joomla! CMS. We will delve into the MVC architectural pattern that allows it all to happen. We will discuss instances where output override function may not be available for an extension. And lastly, we will create overrides using some of the newer standards in website development.
