About Ryan Ozimek, Open Source Matters

Ryan OzimekRyan Ozimek is the President of Open Source Matters (OSM), the non-profit organization that helps manage the Joomla! project. Ryan has been an officer on OSM's board of directors, and has provided stewardship and guidance in the project's fundraising and event management. During this time, the Joomla! project has expanded greatly, now topping more than 16 million downloads and over 380,000 registered users in its forums.

Ryan is also the founder and CEO of PICnet, Inc. In the nine years since the founding of the PICnet, the company has grown from a graduate school concept into one of the most recognized and trusted names in the open source non-profit technology field. Under Ryan's management, PICnet has forged strong relationships open source technology giants, including the Joomla! project (www.joomla.org), in an effort to provide organizations the sophisticated and affordable services. Ryan has guided PICnet through a natural evolution in open source business models, including custom development, support services, and currently software as a service (SaaS) models.

This business experience, coupled with his work as President of OSM, provides Ryan a strong knowledge base of successful lessons learned and best practices for open source business model development. Ryan has a Masters of Public Policy from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), as well as an Bachelor of Arts degree in communications from UCLA as well.
